Studies and references

Clinical and laboratory studies indicate that the root and leaves of Isatis have anti-bacterial, antiviral and immune function modulating properties. The studies confirm that the anti-bacterial activity of the root extract is more wide-ranging than that of the leaves. (Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi 2000;25:327-9)

A herbal formulation, consisting mainly of Andrographis extract, was found to have the ability to improve the recovery rate and to reduce the clinical manifestations of infectious diseases of the respiratory tract. (Phytother Res. 2004 Jan;18(1):47-53)
